Research Interest

My current interest is the cross-kingdom interaction between environmental bacteria and the plant pathogenic fungi Magnaporthe oryzae and Sporisorium scitamineum in microbial communities. Magnaporthe oryzae and Sporisorium scitamineum can cause severe losses in rice and sugarace production. I want to know how enviromental bacteria act during disease development caused by Magnaporthe oryzae or Sporisorium scitamineum infection, how Magnaporthe oryzae and Sporisorium scitamineum response to the environmental changes caused by environmental bacteria, and how to exploit the synthetic microbial communities (SynComs) to control rice blast and sugarcane smut caused by Magnaporthe oryzae and Sporisorium scitamineum. I have published more than 10 papers in peer-viewed journals focusing on the regulation of bacterial virulence-related physiology and antimicrobial resistance. I have been the principal or co-investigator on research grants supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation.
